Room three have proven to have been a very low ability class in terms of reading and writing and when getting to know the kids they are very maths smart although lack confidence in writing and reading. This can be seen on their lack of motivation in these areas. To try and engage the children we have introduced a learning centre approach and the habits of mind to work on their thinking skills. This is working but it needs reflecting on daily as a class to get them thinking about their habits and their learning goals. Sarah and I have discussed knowing themselves as a learner and having them write out their daily routine and goals would help establish their understanding of what they need to achieve in a day. This could possibly help for next term. We have made progress to a lot of children with consistent reminding hopefully this will drive them into good habits for next term or will it?
